San Diego Women's Chorus presents "Love Is"

By San Diego Women's Chorus (other events)

2 Dates Through Dec 11, 2015

ABOUT ABOUT

Join the San Diego Women’s Chorus as we present our annual winter concert Love Is on December 6th and 11th at the beautiful theatre at the Creative Performing and Media Arts Middle School in Clairemont.   Love Is celebrates all types of love - family, romantic, love for friends and community, and the love of life itself. “The bonds of love are often challenged, sometimes broken, but always longed for,” says Artistic Director Kathleen Hansen. Songs will contain themes of marriage equality and the powerful force of women to use love to overcome violence and hatred.

In addition, SDWC’s diverse program will include Randi Driscoll’s “Love Is Love,” a celebratory song contemplating the way the world has changed since Matthew Shepard’s death with a hopeful vision for a better tomorrow. Longtime SDWC fans will recognize "Love Is Love" as a homage to Driscoll's piece "What Matters," performed by SDWC in 2012. The audience will also be swept away by Eric Whitacre's gorgeous "Seal Lullaby, sing along from their seat to pop hits from Billy Joel and Queen, and delight in world music selections, classical choral pieces and a touch of traditional holiday spirit.

Hansen chose songs for this program that demonstrate how “love is many things and also that it simply is. It is a universal force that all of humanity experiences in one way or another."

The Sunday December 6th performance is a 4:00 pm matinee, while the Friday December 11th show begins at 7:00pm. Discounted tickets available for youth/students, seniors, people with disbilities, and members of the military.
